NUC TEAM VISITS UEE AKAMKPA FOR RESOURCE ASSESSMENT OF NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
The University of Education and Entrepreneurship (UEE), Akamkpa, on Saturday received a team from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for a comprehensive resource assessment exercise aimed at evaluating the University's readiness for the commencement of new academic programmes.
The NUC delegation was warmly received by the Management of the University, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrick N. Asuquo, alongside principal officers, deans, directors, heads of departments, and other members of the University community.
Welcoming the assessment team, Prof. Asuquo expressed appreciation to the Commission for the visit and assured the team of the University's full cooperation throughout the exercise. He reiterated that UEE operates on a unique dual mandate of Education and Entrepreneurship, designed to produce graduates equipped with both academic excellence and practical entrepreneurial skills necessary for self-reliance and national development.
The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the institution remains committed to providing quality education, promoting innovation, and developing graduates who can effectively contribute to societal transformation through knowledge, creativity, and enterprise.
Speaking on behalf of the assessment team, the Team Leader, Mallam Abubakar Muhammad Girei, Director of Academic Planning, NUC commended the University for its warm reception and hospitality. He explained that the objective of the resource assessment exercise was not to intimidate or fault the institution but to objectively evaluate available resources, identify areas requiring improvement, and provide professional recommendations that would strengthen the University's capacity to deliver quality academic programmes.
According to him, the exercise forms part of the Commission's quality assurance mandate, aimed at ensuring that universities possess the necessary human and material resources required for the successful implementation of academic programmes.
The assessment exercise involved a thorough inspection and evaluation of the University's academic and physical infrastructure. Areas visited included the University Library, lecture halls, laboratories, studios, workshops, faculty buildings, departmental facilities, administrative units, and other support services. The team also examined staffing strength, the academic qualifications of personnel, learning resources, and the institution's capacity to sustain the proposed programmes.

At the conclusion of the exercise, the NUC team held an exit briefing with the University's Management, during which they commended UEE for its remarkable efforts in developing the institution's infrastructure and academic facilities within a relatively short period.
The team observed that the University is laying a solid foundation for academic excellence and possesses significant potential to produce graduates who will not only excel in their respective fields of study but also demonstrate competence in practical and entrepreneurial endeavours.
While acknowledging the progress recorded by the institution, the team also offered valuable recommendations and suggestions aimed at enhancing the University's preparedness and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality academic programmes in line with NUC standards and global best practices.
The resource assessment visit represents a major step forward in the University's quest to expand its academic offerings and strengthen its institutional capacity. Upon the approval of the programmes, relevant regulatory bodies, including the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), will be duly notified to facilitate the full commencement of the programmes in the 2026/2027 academic session.
