Our history

The University of Education and Entrepreneurship (UEE), Akamkpa, was formally established in 2025, heralding a historic transformation in the educational milieu of Cross River State. This monumental stride was made possible by the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, who, on January 8, 2025, signed into law the Cross River State University of Education and Entrepreneurship Law, No. 10 of 2024. By this legislative act, the former Cross River State College of Education (CRSCOE), Akamkpa, was transitioned into the prestigious UEE—a new citadel of learning designed to shape minds and build futures.

Anchored on the twin pillars of education and Entrepreneurship, UEE seeks to raise a new generation of leaders, educators, and innovators who will drive sustainable development in Cross River State, Nigeria, and beyond. With a strong emphasis on hands-on training, practical research, and lifelong learning, the University equips its students with real-world skills that transcend the walls of the classroom.

About Us

UEE’s mission aligns seamlessly with the Cross River State Government’s vision of moving the state from a civil service–dependent economy to one powered by entrepreneurship and innovation. By instilling entrepreneurial acumen, technical craftsmanship, and creative problem-solving, the University ensures that its graduates are not merely employable but also self-reliant job creators, innovators, and solution providers.

A defining milestone in UEE’s journey came on March 11, 2025, when the University received full operational approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC). The presentation of its Certificate of Recognition (CoR) was more than an administrative formality; it was a powerful affirmation of UEE’s role as a beacon of academic excellence and transformation. This endorsement was swiftly communicated to major national institutions—including JAMB, TETFUND, NYSC, and NELFUND—paving the way for UEE to commence full academic operations and open new frontiers of opportunity for students, educators, and the society it serves.
