TETFund Team Visits UEE Akamkpa for Intervention Enlistment Assessment

The serene campus of the University of Education and Entrepreneurship (UEE), Akamkpa, came alive on Tuesday, September 7, 2025, as a high-powered delegation from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Abuja, visited the institution for an intervention enlistment assessment — a crucial step toward securing TETFund support for the young University.

Welcoming the delegation to his office, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Patrick N. Asuquo, expressed profound elation over their timely visit and fervent commitment to the growth of tertiary education in Nigeria. He described the assessment as a pivotal step that would open new avenues for infrastructural and academic advancement at UEE.

Prof. Asuquo fondly recalled the numerous TETFund-supported projects accessed by the former College of Education, Akamkpa, which has since evolved into the University of Education and Entrepreneurship. He commended TETFund for its sustained impact across the nation’s higher education sector, emphasizing that the agency’s interventions have been instrumental in transforming learning environments.

“The establishment of this University is anchored on a vision to nurture a new generation of educators, innovators, and leaders with a deep passion for teaching and an entrepreneurial drive,”
the Vice-Chancellor stated.

“To sustain this vision, we count on TETFund’s continued partnership and support. Your intervention remains not only vital but indispensable to our growth and future,” he added.

In her response, the Team Leader and TETFund Chief Planning Officer, Mrs. Abigail Egbe, expressed gratitude to the University’s management for their warm reception and praised the institution’s organizational readiness. She noted that the purpose of the visit was to conduct an on-site verification of the university’s faculties and administrative structures to determine its eligibility for TETFund enlistment.

“This visit goes beyond inspection — it represents partnership and progress. We are here to assess, guide, and strengthen, as well as ascertain the level of preparedness towards ensuring that UEE Akamkpa meets the necessary benchmarks for accessing TETFund interventions as a newly established University,” Mrs. Egbe assured.

“Be confident that TETFund remains fully committed to supporting your institution’s aspirations,” she affirmed.

Joining the Vice-Chancellor were key members of the University management team, notably: the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Dr. Benedict Ugbong; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Dr. (Mrs.) Patience O. Ebam; Registrar, Amb. Dr. Gabriel Egbe; Bursar, Dr. Eyo Ekpe; University Librarian, Dr. Christopher Ofem; Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Rosemary Agba; Director of Works and Services, Engr. Bassey Ibok-Eyo; and Principal Technical Officer, Arch. Giwa Bolakale, among others.

The visit featured a guided tour of the University’s Faculties and facilities, followed by a group photograph and a short exit briefing session that marked the close of the exercise.

With this successful assessment, the University of Education and Entrepreneurship, Akamkpa, moves a step closer to being enlisted for TETFund intervention — a development expected to catalyze its infrastructural expansion, academic excellence, and institutional sustainability.
